Opium is Mercantile Group’s latest offering in Dublin – featuring a newly refurbished Restaurant, Botanical Garden, Lounge and Nightclub. Audiotek designed and supplied a new, state of the art Lighting, Sound and Video package for this new venture working alongside leading architectural and interior design firm, ODonnell ONeil.
Iro, the newly refurbished nightclub located within Opium required an audio system that would speak for itself. Continuing our extensive relationship with L’Acoustics, our popular choice for all large-scale projects. A system of L’Acoustics ARCS Wide & Focus were hung in stereo around the DJ coupled with L’Acoustics SB28 Subwoofers to provide a fully immersive audio experience. In the bar area, a main delay system of ARCS Wide’s were implemented with further 5XTi cabinets used for the seating area. For the upper balcony area, two further ARCS Wide were used with the full system being powered by L’Acoustics LA8 amplifiers.
To provide a visual spectacle, three Chauvet C6 video walls were installed – one located in the front of the DJ booth itself, with a further one mounted behind the DJ and finally one located along the long side wall of the venue. This provides a hugely immersive environment coupled with a selectively designed overhead lighting system to compliment the visuals created for the venue, controlled by an Avolites Quartz lighting controller.
Within the newly created Botanical Garden, a system of Tannoy AMS8DC units were used to control the sound but also deliver a full experience. These were coupled with Tannoy VSX10 subwoofers powered by LabGruppen E-Series amplifiers – these amplifiers have shown to be extremely reliable and powerful, therefore our choice in our restaurant and commercial installations.
Within both the restaurant and lounge, the existing audio systems were interfaced with the new QSC QSYS 110f audio processor system:- allowing full control of the system from both mobile devices and touch-screens located around the venue. The flexibility of the QSYS system means it Audioteks’ go-to choice for audio processing and system control in all of our new venues.
